Pro-Director, Academy of Fine Arts of Florence
Giandomenico Semeraro, born in Florence in 1959, is Pro-Director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence since 2014, where he holds the chair of Contemporary Art History and History of the New Media.
He was also a professor at the School of Specialization in Art History at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Florence and at the Department of Social Studies at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the same University.
He is a historian and art critic, has been a consultant to the City of Carrara for Contemporary Art for 1999 and 2000, and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Ken Damy Museum of Contemporary Photography in Brescia.
He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Bisonte Foundation for the Graphic Arts Studio.
He is a member of the scientific committee of “BAU, contemporary art container”.
He was also a collaborator of the Florentine editorial board of the newspaper “La Repubblica” from 1988 to 1995, and specialized magazines.
He is also an Academician of Honor of the Academy of Drawing Arts, Florence. Engaged as a militant critic, he curated , on his own and in collaboration, numerous exhibitions.
