Prerna Suri is an award-winning journalist with over 12 years of experience spanning global newsrooms, governments and inter-government agencies. She is currently with Singapore’s largest media house- MediaCorp- as their Editor (International News) at Channel NewsAsia, one of Asia’s prolific news channels. She was previously the South Asia Correspondent for Al Jazeera English reporting on political and economic events out of the region. Whilst in Singapore, Prerna has also reported for broadcasters like the BBC, TRT World, CCTV, RTB, ET Now & Reuters on business and general news. Prerna is also a former UN diplomat having worked with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Bangkok serving as their spokesperson in Asia. !
For a brief period, Prerna ran an independent communications firm, headquartered in Singapore, with sub-offices in Dubai and London. During that time, she worked primarily with government bodies, newsrooms, foundations and corporates on media trainings and communication strategies. Some of her clients included India’s Central Bank, the National University of Singapore, United Nations Systems College, The Reuters Foundations and Mars Inc. She is a published writer with publications in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Hindustan Times, The Times of India and Khaleej Times. !
Prerna is also committed to various mentoring programs in Singapore and regularly speaks at industry events.She holds a Masters degree in Gender & Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
