Alessandra Tempesti (1979, Florence, IT; lives and works in Prato) graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the University of Florence, with a thesis on the history of contemporary art. From 2007 to 2011 she worked at the Center for Contemporary Culture Strozzina in Florence, overseeing education and the coordination and curation of special projects.
After studying Textile Design and Color Design with Renata Pompas in Milan, she started her activities as a freelance print designer. In parallel, she developed her own artistic research in the field of sound, for projects linked to dance, theater and video art; with the moniker Gea Brown, she has exhibited at festivals of experimental music and in cultural spaces linked to contemporary art.
Currently she works as a curator at Lottozero textile laboratories in Prato, both for residency programmes and exhibitions focused on the connections between contemporary art and textile. She is part of the faculty of the two-year Textile Design course by IED Firenze, starting on January 2018.
