Prerna Suri is an award-winning journalist, with over 15 years experience as a News Anchor and Correspondent for some of the leading newsrooms in the world, including – Al Jazeera English, BBC and Channel NewsAsia- gaining global TV recognition as a foreign correspondent and an in-studio presenter.
She has conducted several interviews with heads of states and government, senior UN diplomats and leading policymakers and experts. Prerna is also an analyst on technology, politics, business, international diplomacy, South/South East Asia, North Asia and the Middle East. She writes for several publications and is a sought-after Moderator for high-level panels and debates.
In 2007, Prerna was the only woman foreign correspondent reporting on the civil war in Darfur; in 2008, her report on the abuse within the surrogacy industry in India sparked a debate in parliament; in 2010 Prerna was the only foreign correspondent to report from India’s Chattisgarh region; in 2012 she investigated drugs trafficking from Myanmar into India, prompting a review. During her career, Prerna has reported on other defining historical moments, such as- the Syrian refugee crisis; Sri Lanka’s civil war; and various elections.
Prerna gained her MSc. in Gender & Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and her BA (Hons.) from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in India. She is a fellow at the Asian Forum on Global Governance, taking a close look at the Asian region and at the challenges facing the global community. Prerna is also the Chairperson for the All Ladies League, a network of global women leaders, in Singapore.
